Kindness Cards with Love Lives Here & Civic Engagement Alliance
Local nonprofit organizations Civic Engagement Alliance and Love Lives Here CDA are co-organizing a volunteer activity to foster positive community connections: Kindness Cards. Kindness Cards are a way to show appreciation and caring for our valued community members who have been most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, including healthcare workers, frontline employees, emergency responders, hospice staff, and our elderly. During this time of uncertainty and stress, we are bringing people together by spreading kindness and connection through personalized, handwritten cards.
In the past, the Civic Engagement Alliance successfully coordinated other volunteer mail projects including Gratitude Cards to local nonprofits and service clubs and nonpartisan CDA VOTES 2020 postcards to help inform community members about voting options. Love Lives Here CDA organized a widespread kindness campaign that brought together local businesses, organizations, public officials, and community members.
The Kindness Cards Project is designed to be collaborative with community partners. We are looking for card recipients, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure that Kindness Cards are made and received across our community. Businesses and organizations that partner with the Kindness Cards Project will be promoted during our marketing, news releases, card packages, and virtual volunteer events.
KINDNESS CARDS PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
1) CARD RECIPIENT ORGANIZATIONS
We are seeking card recipient organizations that employ, serve, or house those we hope to reach with our Kindness Cards.
A partner contact person would let us know the number of cards to make (lists of names are not needed) and any special instructions. We would deliver or mail a box of Kindness Cards for them to distribute to their employees or residents in whatever way works best for them.
As an added bonus, card recipient partners can help spread kindness by sharing photos of the received cards on their media platforms or by sending them to us to share.
If your organization is in a position to help coordinate the distribution of Kindness Cards to staff, patients, or residents and are interested in being a recipient of the community’s goodwill, please contact us at (208) 274-3426 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
2) SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
We are seeking partners who can help make small monetary contributions, donations of materials, or help with marketing exposure. To learn about our sponsorship opportunities and sign up, see our editable PDF form at the button below. Completed forms can be emailed to email@example.com.
A donation can be made online here or checks can be written out and mailed to:

3) VOLUNTEER TO WRITE KINDNESS CARDS
Our goal is to deliver 1000+ Kindness Cards throughout the community. Volunteers will make them in the comfort of their own homes. We will create card kits with instructions, mail them to volunteers, and collect the cards by having them either mail them to our PO Box or drop them off at the Human Rights Education Institute or other partner drop-off location.
Card Kits will be sent out in mid January to those who fill out the below sign-up form. Signing up will help us to best assemble and deliver card kits to volunteers. We will be sure to follow up with you as we get closer to sending the kits out.
A Kinder Community Starts with Us. Help us spread kindness by signing up to write cards to those who might need our expressions of gratitude, connection & support!
Our goal is to deliver 1000+ Kindness Cards. Volunteers can sign up to do 10, 25, or 50 cards. Materials will be provided. Kits will start to be mailed out or available for pickup in mid-January.
We will create card kits with instructions including a deadline and include information about where the kindness cards will be received.
We will mail them to volunteers or arrange to pick-up and collect the cards by having them either mail them to our PO Box or drop them off at the Human Rights Education Institute or other partner drop-off locations.
Volunteers will make the Kindness Cards in the comfort of their own homes within their own schedules. Volunteers will also receive an invitation to attend an optional Virtual Kindness Card making party in January.
Volunteers can choose to order pre-designed cards that they can customize by coloring in with crayons, colored pencils, or markers or they can choose blank cards to completely design themselves! Our “Grateful: A Kinder Community Starts with Us” graphic is an example of our predesigned cards.
Children and teens are most welcome to participate in the project! This is an activity for the entire family.
Volunteer groups and service clubs can partner with us by helping write the Kindness Cards. Just share this sign up form with your group and ask people to sign up.
This activity is FREE to participate in. Our valued sponsors and donors have helped us raise most funds needed for this project to benefit the community.
If you would like to help us save on postage, you may choose to PICKUP and DROP OFF cards.
Or you can help by making a suggested $3 donation to help cover the mailing cost of the activity kit. Make a donation on our website or Venmo us @civic-engagement-aliance.
